“We love how the hero video turned out, the team had such a great response to it and it’s being used as our main campaign video for 2022.”
Senior Global Market Development Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific
Thermo Fisher Scientific is an American provisioner of scientific instrumentation, reagents and consumables, and software and services to healthcare, life science, and other laboratories in academia, government, and industry.
Thermo Fisher Scientific wanted to celebrate the heritage of Capillary Electrophoresis, so approached Wooshii to produce an impactful promotional video to showcase the developments of CE technology over the past 70 years, and the role it plays across many scientific research fields. The aim was to create an awareness piece that captured the attention of researchers and highlighted the value of CE technology in a fun and engaging way.
Harvey, Wooshii’s Creative Director, proposed a narrative storytelling approach – using VFX, minimalist set design and choreographed movement to bring to life how innovation, inspiration and technological developments within CE have shifted dramatically over the last 70 years.
The story would be based around the concept of a CE universe, showcasing the different milestones within the history of CE by using seamless transitions and virtual productions, as well as carefully curated set and costume designs to aid visualisation.
The character, a researcher, would be taken on a journey through time experiencing the developments of technology, research and human inspiration enabled by CE – represented through a red orb which pulses and moves as if it has a life of its own, its own personality, waiting to take the audience and our researcher on a journey through time.

We shot 13 scenes over 3 days at our studio based in Newcastle, England – with over 18 creatives including set designers, make up artists, sound engineers and lighting technicians. We then used 2 animation teams in post-production to pull all the scenes together and add VFX to bring the whole sequence to life before delivering a 90 second edit to the client.
The entire project went from initial ideation to final delivery in just 3 months and Thermo were delighted with the result.
