okkk so i have a pretty solid idea, evenone knows how Joel is always talking about how he sets himself apart from regular "Dj's" with himself being a producer and how everyone thinks that when hes up there on stage hes "DJ'ing" well maybe we should make a clip about how he pwnds "Dj's" with his ablton live sets over CDJ's and how hes recreating live dance music before our eyes? i can expand if need be.

This is a pretty cool opportunity, but the budget is going to be a deal breaker for most animators.

Nice music, it goes very well with motion-graphics. A lot of room for creativity. I do agree the budget is a big turn off!

Think about it people, if you get this pitch the budget is irrelevant. To be seen by so many people, doors open. And more money comes.

No, they are not using the proper "Submit pitch" button, and are instead posting a comment, which is not a pitch for the project at all.

I agree with a lot of ppl here...the opportunity to get exposure should not negate a decent paycheck. This will end up being less than minimum wage. (If animation) Way to extort the eager.

Guy's I'm a little confused on this, let me explain why.

You want a pitch for an official music video for the mau5 with a budget of $1200, that part I get.

What confuses me is the lack of details for the technical aspects for the vid settings. If it's going to be the official vid, why not have a requirement of settings so it doesn't look like shite.

The song available for download is 7 minutes long but the vid is going to be for an unreleased version marked at 3 min 30 seconds? It's very unfair to not have that posted for the creators.

Also, $1200 is such a low budget, you can't really enter this contest unless you already own all the equipment necessary for making a good quality vid. The only way I could see this work is if someone shoots something on a cell phone or some stop motion.

This song is very good and deserves a top quality vid(see ghosts and stuff). This contest seems like a disservice to mau5, his music and his fans at such a low budget, lack of details(lack of a better name lol), and having the winner probably having to shell out their own money to fund this.

Now if the budget was at least 3-5K, I think that would be more fair and this wouldn't look like such a community college project.

You could see it as a piss take of the fans- or a massive opportunity for fans and for creatives to get seen. Also, granted it is a small production budget, but at the end of the day you could turn that around and use it to your advantage to add that grimey, ravey feel to the video. Depends on what perception you choose to take! :)

Not everyone is a hipster living in the city(living off their parents) and can spend time on something like this for free, and to really believe that if you win with a video shot on a cell phone is going to open doors, your naive and delusional.

There's nothing talented about filming a guy walking around a city and adding a $.25 effect to it.

Since your obviously not a fan of his, let me put it in terms you can understand.

If Lady Gaga had a contest for her fans to make her next "official video" and the budget was $1200, and you saw the crap that was being submitted and knowing, in the back of your mind, that the winning video is going to be unoriginal and most likely along the lines of an animation with poorly drawn butterflies and crayon houses that aren't even structurally sound with uneven walls and roofs, you'd take it as a slap in the face, and not a real opportunity for anyone, just an insult to the music.

I earned my job by working hard and spending MY OWN £ to do so.

This is something that Deadmau5 are obviously approving of and comissioning so why would they find it offensive?

Yeah KNZ, We are all here with amateur video experience. I am giving it my best shot but, If there is a person with the best media, video work to show it would be moebowser. (Not saying its that great). So much tension. Lets just hope the person with the best script makes a good video. Its all about <3.

Anybody that has seen Deadmau5 live knows how he puts on a very different and amazing show. He has worked with some of the best lighting companies in the world. The same guys that has built his recent stage and head did the Kanye's glow in the dark tour and Daft Punk's stage. All I was trying to show was with a good script and a simple budget like $1200 you can make a great video. KNZ, obviously Deadmau5 isn't an unsigned band that play at dive bars. Not sure if you have seen any other videos that he has done, like the Ghost 'n' Stuff video because that can be made on a very short budget. I am making this video win or lose, but goodluck to everyone, would be great if everyone had the time and money to make their idea. I would love to see everyone's ideas.

moebrowser, dont be upset that you spent $40 for the template on motion 3 for your video, the mau5 deserves a little more than cheap motion templates.

And I don't even want to start on the dog video.. eek..
The scripts would be the funny thing to read.. Dog becomes a deadmau5dj.. dirty rat in room, walks around chews toy cat tail....dad, report card, party, creepy..

me? I think wooshi has opened a can of worms by having such a low budget for an artist whos fans pride themselves on listening to him because of his original style, not cause ryan secrest told us too.

mau5 music has evolved to so many different genres since hes started, anything he makes now should just in the genre mau5 instead of calling it progressive or electrohouse etc.

that being said, i like small titted girls with french accents, and this contest should have been for a lesser artist with less intelligent fans like justin beebeer as a warmup for the mau5.

But the little mouse changes it to a 5 if you keep watching :)

To all the haters! To appreciate our vid you have to look at all the details. Like the polaroids with video clips in them, the miniature stage, and all the other stuff on the ground which is suppose to look like a floor after a crazy,dirty afterparty or something like that. And just to make one thing clear, we did not forget to spell deadmau5 with a "5", the mouse (yes it´s a mouse not a rat) flips the dice from "S" to "5" at 1.30 in the vid.
