Reasons why someone won

This would be another reason why I'd like hearing why someone didn't or did get a pitch.

The project "Can u create an animation for a biz in 15 secs?" just finished picking and the winner is not even an animator. So I'm kind of confused on what they were looking for and what I could do differently to win future pitches. If they were looking for someone to make graphics and not animate it, then they should have said that.

For projects that have their own script doesn't really involve us making "pitches" but more or less a pitch saying we can do it with links to our work for them to view right? Or am I doing it wrong.

Indeed that is curious why they would pick a non-animator, though to be honest that project was a bit hard to understand truly what they wanted. And I understand what you mean about projects that have their own script, but I think most of the time the script they mention is just on a basic level, and it would be your duty to improve on it. Your pitch can promote not only what you've done but also your unique take on things.

The project and pitching system is undergoing an overhaul at the moment and one of the things we'll be introducing at some stage soon will be the opportunity for the buyer to explain why they selected the pitch they did.

There will probably be a selection of standard options, for instance:

"I chose this pitch because...
a) The creative submitted an excellent pitch
b) The creative's previous work/portfolio impressed me
c) The price suggested by the creative was very competitive
d) The creative's geographical location was important"
... and so on.

There will also be the chance for the buyer to submit specific comments explaining in more detail why they made their decision.

The purpose of this would be to help the creatives to understand why they didn't win or what they might need to do in future to stand a better chance of winning.

You're also right, Nath, that in more and more instances the pitching process will be simplified because the buyers will have a script etc in place and will simply be looking for somebody with the right credentials to do the work.

Instead of having to submit specific ideas, you'll only have to submit some examples of your previous work so that the buyer can judge whether you're the right person for the job.

Having said that, like Eammy says, there will always be room in the system for people to come up with an interesting new angle if they can. That's what makes you "creatives"!

Where a client has a script, it's a good thing. It means at least they have an idea what they're after, but I do wish they'd publish their scripts as opposed to us having to guess whay they've got written on the paper like a magic trick!

Feedback would be utterly wonderful. Even if it's not individual feedback it'd be great to hear a line from the client as to why they chose the one they did - feedback is the only way we'll be able to tune results for later clients

Definitely, Paddy. And we're also going to be working on a feedback system for the finished projects, so that both the buyer and creative can leave feedback about how the project ended up.

Judging by the work that's been done so far, in 99.9% of cases this should be positive, and it will be great to see our creatives building up a list of glowing comments from satisfied Wooshii customers!

Awesome James, I am kind of excited about the pitching revamp, as I was getting a bunch of projects but now I seem to get a whole bunch of nothing. I have no idea why either, maybe I smell funny? o.O Just kidding. But it would be nice to see more in depth what they want, so I can better prepare myself for a pitch. Half the time I feel like I am having to pull a random idea out of thin air because I haven't the slightest clue what they 'really' want.

Kinda sorta related - the list is now empty, but open projects just vanish after their end date, perhaps they should automagically drop into the grid below with a status of 'awaiting award decision' or something? At least the cupboard won't look so bare!

Yep, good idea Paddy, we'll add this to the list and take at look at it shortly.
