Reuters broke this exclusive news this Monday that Youtube is now getting 4 billion daily video views. In a blog post on their official blog, Youtube says the huge number is “the equivalent of more than half the world’s population watching a video every day, the same number as there are US $1 bills in circulation, the same as number of years since there was water on Mars…”!
Thos are really huge numbers. Remember, it was only just in last May that they announced they just broke the 3 billion daily views!
More mindblowing stats were the fact that people are now uploading 60 hours of footage every minute, a growth from 48 hours also just a few months ago.
They say that one important factor in this 25% increase in just eight months is the push Google has been doing beyond the personal computer, to smartphones and even TVs, trends we have talked about before too.
To celebrate this milestone, they put out a nice site: “an interactive collection of what happens in a YouTube second”, called One Hour Per Second.
Also, of course, this video:
Nyan!
When do you think we will see the 5 billion milestone?
