The latest numbers from comScore’s online video measurements (for US only, and for the month of December, 2011) were in last week, and again with some impressive numbers – even when compared with the already impressive last report:

- 182 million U.S. Internet users watched online video content in December. Slightly down from the 184 million from October 2011 but…

- the average number of hours per viewer rose to 23.2 from the 21.1 hours from the previously recorded month;

- although October 2011 showed a all time high in number of total video views, 42.6, this report showed that for December 2011 the total U.S. Internet audience viewed 43.5 billion videos.

- when it comes to top video destinations, Google Sites (Youtube.com) is still number one – no news there – but what is news is that Facebook dropped to the 5th place (it was 2nd just in October, 2011);

- and while Hulu, for example, is 8th barely making it to the list, it is first when it comes to number of video ads viewed;

- finally, another interesting bit of data is that video ads reached 51 percent of the total U.S. population an average of 46 times during the month.

These are all great numbers, and a continued trend on the growth of online video. Now looking forward to see upcoming reports on the rest of the world aswell.
