As the wars in video format for web dominance continue, and one is always thinking which format can play in which device, one service is facing this problem with a universal URL for video content – Vid.ly (from Encoding.com).

The video above is also an example of a Vid.ly embed. As you can see, there is no branding, Youtube or such, on the video, another feature of the service. Nice kinetic text animtion too!

So the service is free and it allows you to upload to up to 1 GB per video, but there will also be also Pro accounts in the future. It is on private beta now expected to launch soon
