There were times when “fan-made” meant it was not only not official, but also the quality was not as good as the real deal.
Well we’re not in that day and age anymore. Nowadays we see talent from anywhere in the world doing amazing stuff as good (if not better) as the official stuff.
Case in point, the awesome opening titles artist Daniel Kanemoto made for AMC’s upcoming TV show “The Walking Dead”.
From his description:
My favorite “exclusive” from this year’s Comic-Con was a beautiful painting by legendary artist Drew Struzan, featuring a horde of zombies from THE WALKING DEAD. Frank Darabont is adapting the apocalyptic Image Comics book created by Robert Kirkman, and man, it looks really, really great.
As I was admiring Struzan’s work of art, I wondered what the opening titles to this terrifying new television show might look like… so I animated a spec title sequence using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.
It’s been getting rave reviews by many sites and influent people in the industry, for example like Damon Lindelof (one of Lost’s showrunners).
We truly are in the Golden Age of video creation!
