CC Chainey thrives on the chaos of cinema and her passion for story. The Bay Area native produced her first USC MFA thesis project, CROSSING THE CANYON as an 18-year-old, working with the special needs of motion capture technology. The following year, she produced another USC MFA thesis, shot in live-action stereoscopic 3D. This was to be the first of four short films she would do in 3D while a student at USC, two of which she also directed. Two of her short films have been distributed nationally on AT&T cellular phones -- she directed FAULT in 2007 and produced THE ROUTE in 2009. In 2010, she produced a short thriller called ELLEN that went to film festivals across the country and ACROSS THE POND, a short film shot simultaneously in London and Los Angeles that was showcased on Virgin America flights and took home a Best Drama award at USC through Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival.
CC has worked professionally as Production Manager on Season 2 of the FOX web series SINGLE DADS and Associate Producer of the Brian Anthony music video WORKED UP! that was distributed by FOX on the DVD for Dragonball: Evolution. She currently works as the Coordinator on the upcoming CounterPoint Films documentary on Paramahansa Yogananda, with Paola di Florio and Lisa Leeman.
In her heart, the focus is on quality over quantity and story over genre. She loves the ability of cinema to take you to places and times that you may never have been, bring you experiences you may have never had, and yet always have something you can relate to. Her artistic passions extend beyond the world of film as a ballet dancer, singer, and origami artist, and she studied Art History through her minor in Visual Culture at USC. She is also a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America.
In addition to producing, CC is a writer and a director. Her first feature screenplay, LAWRENCE AND BRIE, was awarded the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Award in Screenwriting at USC in 2009. She is currently penning her second, THE CROWN JEWELS, which is a feature adaptation of her student short BEACHCOMBER. She is a proud member of the USC School of Cinematic Arts Production program graduating class of 2011.
