After taking a great interest in the works of Werner Herzog & Lars Von Trier he applied for film school directly after finishing his degree. He went to the London Film School to study for his MA where he was awarded a Skillset grant based upon his application to complete his studies there. He graduated in April 2009. His graduation film, Cotton Stones, featuring Andrew Knott (History Boys & Gavin & Stacey), completed in February 2009, is currently being considered for festivals in Europe.
Since leaving film school Jonathan has been writing short film scripts and directing small-scale promo films and music videos. After having made The Good North, Jonathan was awarded a commission through the Pulse Digital Shorts scheme with Film London for his short film project Mulligatawny.
He is currently developing a short film project with Maxine Peake (Red Riding, Criminal Justice, Dinner Ladies) due to be shot in September 2010 in the North of England.
